It’s not every day that Mercedes-Benz pumps out a new SL model, so seeing this is exciting. Historically, the SL model, which is near the top in regards to luxury, has gotten used to a rather oddly long lifecycle. Throughout Mercedes-Benz’s history several vehicles have had a long lifecycle, including Mercedes’ Supercar Gullwing was on the market for approximately ten years, with the next-generation being on the market for eight. That may seem like a lot and it is but let’s not forget that the third generation was around for almost two decades! Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, your Mercedes-Benz dealer in San Antonio, is here to tell you that the wait for the new SL won’t be too much longer. This new model is set to replace the MkV, after a run of a decade. This new model is slated for release next year and will be a 2013 model.
Although a lot isn’t known about the release of the new SL model, we do know that the existing two-seater, folding hardtop convertible weights as much, if not more, than some SUVs. With that being said, Mercedes-Benz could potentially think of using some stronger/lighter steel to boost efficiency, what will come of it who knows but we will keep Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts up to speed.
Based off of snapshots of the SL prototype, it appears that LED lights are located in the lower front intakes on both sides, is appears also that there could potentially be a side intake behind the front wheels. The prototype model that has been spotted cruising around has been spotted sporting a new shade of Copper, it is not known if this color will carry over or not.
